Andrew Whitworth is the answer?!?

Hope. I know that four letter word is weird to see for us Rams fans. But that is exactly what I have. Hope. As in Hope that Whitworth actually stays healthy and continues to be a pro bowl caliber left tackle. This is the feeling I had when they brought in Jake Long. That didn't turn out very good. However Whitworth has had much better durability in his long career. Whitworth is the second highest rated Tackle in the game behind Trent Williams on PFF. Which I think would make him our best player. What this does is make it so Robinson can move to a slightly easier position in which hopefully he can thrive making him perform better. So hopefully this makes two spots on the O-Line much better and not just one. Hopefully this means less hits on Gurley in the backfield. Whitworth is most definitely the short term answer. Day one this makes the offense better.

What happened with Goff?!?

Number one pick in the entire draft. Usually means you contribute from day one. Usually means you put up competitive numbers. But we have to remember Goff took over in week 10 on a team that was already dead last in the league in offense. If you have a rookie QB typically you want some kind of running game to take the pressure off. You only want to throw 25 times or so a game. Not only did he not have a running game he didn't have an O-line or good receivers. The Receivers part is hard to judge. Easy for us to make that statement but I feel WR's are more reliant on the team than even QB's. The running game has to make the DB's stay honest and the O-Line has to give the QB time to allow the WR's to beat the DB's. None of which happened regularly. So when the whole system is broken the WR's ultimately pay the heaviest price. Anyway you look at it we had nothing but a disaster last year. Hardly something a Rookie QB could turn around. When "they" say good QB's find a way to win what they mean is those QB's usually have at least a mediocre team.

Point is don't give up on Goff. He has all the skills. All he needs is a real system with at least a moderately better coached team around him.
